In July 2008 Castorama France opened its first low carbon store, in Cormeilles-en-Parisis, near Paris. It incorporates more than 2,000m2 of solar panels, a ground source heat pump and a rainwater collection system. The store uses 31% less energy than a standard commercial building (regulatory standard).
